Fallen Leaves

Calling to me
An echo through misty mountains
Beyond the vision my human sight gives me
Native without corruption it stands
Solemn spirit soaring the cloudy territory
Releasing my ominous pain

Pleading with me
To make sense for my country
For the bludgeoned and bloodshed agony
Created from invaders who steal all we have
Without asking what matters most
Our honor, our land

Singing to me
Their innermost truth in being my friend
Always fearless to fly among eagles
Certain to no one our ritual to believe
A harmony like rolling thunder
Melting onto forgotten fallen leaves

Speak for me
Show me the words to better understand
Can you see we are beauty to our breed
A gift on this earth like eternal springs
Flowing to nourish both savage and fragile
Swiftly gone, a current of purpose

Never leave me
For we will fight to keep our people free
My place in history will be served
From our arrows to our ashes
We will face the fire of the hunter
Unafraid and untamed carved upon my name

Where Dreams Grow

How are your dreams growing
As you plant them with
Worn out hands
I can see you are more beautiful
Than yesterday
Called up just to say
You are capable of building
A new sky today
If you lay down the forgotten
And lost gray cloud
Are you sitting there waiting
For the strength to find
The words that flee easily
Until you try to sob
But can’t let it go
What happens when you
Say “OK, I can do this”
Again

Even When

(For Raymond, the love of my life)

Be with you forever
Beyond the sun’s horizon
Underneath winter’s icy storm
An overflow; an outpour
Of spirit’s eternal breath
Just lift your eyes to glimpse
Inside an escape-
A holy place solely for
You and me

Even when the winds of war rage
And natural wonders change
Their state;
When you are sick with fever,
Encounter bad days and darkness
Never seems to fade;
Even when the skeptics wage
in sour opinions; do not believe
but filter my truth, my light for you

Contained together, we capture
All love prayers to gobble and swallow;
Secure and embrace them for
Immeasurable infinity we’ve defined
Times two
The blessing of belonging as
No other in history
Unique fulfilled with plenty left
To spare that lasts a lifetime

Held for dreaming and dancing….
Even when.
